A large Muslim prayer meeting is expected to cause significant traffic congestion near Airport Road in South Londonderry Township Tuesday morning, said South Londonderry Township Police officer Eric Cassel.

The meeting will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at In The Net Sports Complex, 798 Airport Road, and heavy traffic is expected in the area as early as 8 a.m., according to police. 

Area police and fire police will man intersections and monitor traffic flow. Police recommend drivers find alternate routes, and avoid Airport, South Forge, Brandt, Hoffer and Hinkle roads.

Anyone who must drive in the area should allow extra time and anticipate delays, police said.
